Prize Money & Subsidies
Manly 16s reinvests directly into the boats and crews that race here — through prize money, new boat subsidies, prize money advances and travel assistance.
Skiff prize money
The Board, in consultation with the Sailing Manager, approves an annual budget to reward 16ft and 13ft Skiff sailing — paid as start money, finish money and championship performance bonuses.

|---|---|---|---|
| 16ft Skiff | $300 | $300 | $600 |

Terms & conditions
To be eligible for a Subsidy or Advance you must:
- Be an active Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club or St George Sailing Club member.
- Continue to meet the minimum 80% participation rate after receiving any Subsidy or Advance.
- Requests for Advances of more than 1 year of Prize Money require Sailing Manager and/or Board approval.
New applicants who have not previously sailed at either Club may apply to the Board for consideration.
Advance: any future Prize Money awarded for racing at Manly or St George. If the boat is sold, the owner stops sailing for the Club, or the 80% participation requirement isn’t met, any unrealised Prize Money must be repaid in full — the Club reserves the right to take ownership of the boat if it cannot be repaid.
Subsidy: treated as a loan for 2 years. After 2 seasons of sailing for the Club at the 80% participation rate, the loan is extinguished. If the boat is sold, the owner stops sailing, or the participation requirement isn’t met, the Subsidy must be repaid in full.
* A New Boat is a new 16ft Skiff, 13ft Skiff or Flying 11 (not previously sailed) with new spars, fittings and sails, ready to go sailing.
** A Used Boat is a boat that has participated in 1 or more sailing seasons.
Travel assistance — Skiff Nationals
To support teams travelling to the Skiff Nationals in Belmont, the Club has approved a maximum of $1,000 per sailor. Boats must meet the following to be eligible:
- Register for the 2025/2026 Skiff Sailing Season by September 1, 2025.
- All crew be Active members at Manly or St George for the 2025/2026 Season.
- Compete in 60% of their Club’s scheduled races prior to December 1, 2025.
- Compete in the Port Jackson Championship.
- Compete in both rounds of the State Championship with 2/3 of their team for a 16ft Skiff (1/2 for a 13ft Skiff) that will compete at Nationals.
If your boat is unable to meet any of the eligibility requirements you must write to the Commodore with a reason; the letter will be considered and a response provided.
Should a team fail to complete the eligibility requirements, the Club reserves the right to withhold the Travel Assistance from the Annual Prize Money won by that boat at their registered Club.
Upon successful application, Travel Assistance is paid out promptly to help with travel arrangements. Applications are limited to one per boat.
